View from Red Mountian and Green peak in the Rockie Mountian Penny,BC
( *Note some of these photos are provided by Bill Benedict some from the live & loved Penny on facebook group and other from my collections over time)
Inside the cabin it has a large wood stove and a supply of firewood. It is fully stocked with dishes and cooking and cleaning essentials. There is a three burner propane stove and propane lights. A small outhouse is a short distance away.
We hope to build rest shelters at strategic spots along the trail to accommodate those who might be caught without energy and/or caught by extreme weather conditions. Making improvements to the trail and cabin will be an on going project. But in the meantime if you enjoy walking in forest, through a stand of huge old growth cedar trees, over a bridge, which crossed a sparkling creek to alpine wonderlands occupied by grizzlies and caribou and moose and the occasional wolf, you will not find a greater experience than to take this hike. Welcome to all, as this area is now open to the general public through the efforts of the Penny Community Historical Association and it’s members. And, thanks again to the Provincial Government members who promoted this public access.
